How do we treat dry eye?
Since dry eye can be the result of many different causes, our doctors use a variety of treatments to offer personalized care for each patient.
One cause of dry eye is blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelids). Overgrowth of bacteria on eyelids causes this inflammation and impacts the quality of tears. Most people require a professional to properly manage this problem, and fortunately, blepharitis can be successfully treated by our optometrists in most cases.
BlephEx is a painless in-office procedure that removes the bacterial biofilm that accumulates on eyelids and eyelashes in only 6-8 minutes and helps your eyes produce proper tears again.

Another cause of dry eye is Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD), which occurs when a person’s meibomian glands (where the oil component of tears are produced) are clogged with dried or solidified tears.
If images from Lipiscan reveal MGD, our doctors use MiboFlo (Mibo Thermoflo) to halt the deterioration of a person’s meibomian glands.
Mibo Thermoflo is a device that uses thermoelectric radiation (heat) and gentle massage to liquify dried up or viscous tears. This allows previously obstructed meibomian glands to function properly again, which relieves dry eye symptoms. |
